“The kitchen and dining area are much better. The single chair with lamp is proving an attractive place to sit and read especially in the mornings. The new built in bookcase unit gives the warm feeling of being in a library. It also gives me option of keeping the dining table clear of magazines and paper, though I don’t always tidy away!.”

“I had some ideas on increasing space and storage in the house, but I wasn’t sure if they would fit. When I opened my front door, the house felt blocked and jarring, and it didn’t flow well. I couldn’t see a way to make that flow better. When I connected with Melba, we had a genuinely collaborative conversation, and she was eager to understand what worked and what didn’t. She drew up our ideas and then introduced her own, which broadened our thinking. It was beneficial to receive multiple design options because we used them to determine what worked best and see how the changes would look. We made many decisions due to this process, and we optimised the use of our house. These changes provided the kids with more space to play. This alleviated pressure on the ground floor, particularly in the kitchen, where we created additional space and utilised it more efficiently.”

“From the various drawings Melba provided, I outlined the extension’s shape on the grass. This allowed us to walk around the room and visualize the positions of the windows and furniture and how they aligned with our views over the loch. This exercise helped us finalize our plan. Without it, the log burner placement and the lounge door would have been incorrect. Working with Melba boosted our confidence to communicate more effectively with our architect, ensuring our instructions were aligned with what we had in mind for the extension and helped us design the lounge to get the best view of the loch. ”
